many of the sherlock holmes stories are public domain
you could do your own version of them where holmes and watson are CANONICALLY (for your adaptation) queer. you could sell it! to people! in bookstores! you could put together an anthology of prose or comics adaptations of that if you wanted to. i bet if somebody did a kickstarter for a project like that, it would do really well, especially if it was presented artfully and with the intention of exploring subtext and promoting queer visibility using classic characters and stories!
im not against that!
but im also not against the idea of someone doing an adaptation of a holmes story where he marries a woman and has a baby and the baby grows up to be a cool sherlock holmes junior who carries on the legacy. or whatever because, canonically speaking, both are equally valid interpretations of the character and neither will negatively affect the other. again, most stories are public domain so anyone can do whatever they want with them!!! there is no one sherlock canon. thats why all these knuckleheads can do all this dumb shit with it!! its all good!!!
okay that REALLY is all im gonna say
