I remember reading that “said” is a word that people usually pass over without taking much notice of it and thus you can use it AS MUCH AS YOU WANT in dialogue and I totally agree.

in bad fanfiction (and bad writing) it seems like the author goes to great lengths to avoid using the word “said”
“sighed” “muttered” “questioned” etc etc. and if there’s ever a “said” its usually modified as hell. “said humbly” etc etc etc.
I HATE THAT!! JUST USE THE WORD “SAID” AND END THE SENTENCE. KEEP...
